Currently In
Squamish, British Columbia
I'm currently offering guided wildlife watching walks and Photography Workshops in Squamish, British Columbia while living and working in this wonderful mountain-town. This is a magical place where land, lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, and the ocean meet in an explosion of incredible scenery and biodiversity.
Why Walk With Me?
Local Expertise
The Skwelwil'em Squamish Estuary is one of BC's most important wildlife areas, supporting over 200 bird species, salmon, black bear, and species at risk. Spending many hours each week exploring this area has given me intimate knowledge of this connected estuarine ecosystem, I know where to look and when.
Ethical Observation
Every nature walk is led with a non-intrusive, wildlife-first approach. We move slowly, observe carefully, and leave the area just as it was when we arrived.
Free & Informal
These are relaxed, free of charge guided bird walks for anyone who wants to explore. I'm grateful to be able to explore this wonderful area, and I love little more than sharing it with others. So whether you're a seasoned birder or have never held a pair of binoculars, come join a walk when you're here in Squamish.
What To Expect
The Walk
2-5 Hours
We'll walk the Squamish estuary at a slow, deliberate pace, with lots of pausing to watch, listen, and identify what is around us. I'll share what I know about the birds, the landscape, the seasons, and how this incredible system is connected.
- Flexible timing: dawn light or golden hour evenings
- Bird and wildlife identification throughout
- Insights into behaviour and ecology of Squamish's wildlife
- Completely free, no booking required. Just get in touch
The Season
Year Round
Squamish has lots to offer regardless of the season. In winter, hundreds of bald eagles gather to feed on spawning salmon, and in spring, tens of thousands of migratory birds arrive.
- Peak bald eagle watching Nov–Jan
- Wintering waterfowl and shorebirds
- Migrating warblers and hummingbirds
- Guided walks in Squamish available year-round
